The cattle smuggling rampant, demand in Bangladesh on the eve of upcoming Eid festival

Shillong, June 10: The brave troops of Border Security Force, once again foil the cattle smuggling into Bangladesh on International border. The vigilant BSF troops deployed at Baghmara in South Garo Hills Distt of Meghalaya noticed a suspected Ashok Leyland Truck temporary bearing No. AS 25/AC/Tem/7/AMG/242 on hill road which were move towards Baghmara to Rongra side. The opposite party stop the vehicle resultantly driver and co-driver managed to escape taking advantages of hilly and forest area. The BSF troops searched the vehicle and recovered 19 cattle worth approximate  more than Rs. 1.5 lac. These cattle were being smuggled from Indian to Bangladesh. It is mentioned that the vehicle owner is  Ochaddi Sheikh, Lakhipur, District of Goalpara, Assam. It appears that the transportation of cattle from hinterland to bordering areas is in continuing without hindrance. The cattle smuggling rampant due to high demand in Bangladesh on the eve of upcoming Eid festival. Though the cattle seized are small in size still these are being smuggled to Bangladesh where they are fed with cow fattening drugs, Moreover small cattle are easier to cross from hum pipes even through fence. After continuous anti -smuggling drive and putting extra vigilant the border to prevent and curb, the BSF has been achieving a great success in countering the cattle smuggling and apprehension of smugglers.The BSF has seized 249 Nos cattle, and contraband items worth more than Rs. 82 Lacs, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the International Border along Meghalaya during this week.
