The DC of Garo Hills met with DC of two district of Assam to coordinate during the MP Election

 

Tura, March 12: The district heads and representatives from all the five districts of Garo Hills had a meeting here today at New Circuit House, Tura, with officials from neighboring districts of Dhubri and Goalpara in Assam to discuss certain coordination issues with regards to the upcoming Parliamentary elections on the 9th April.

Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Tura, Mr. Pravin Bakshi while welcoming the officials from Assam and other districts of Garo Hills informed that there are 11 polling stations in West Garo Hills which have to
cross Assam.

He also raised the concern of availability of petrol and diesel during the election period as this had posed a problem over the last few days due to the strike called by the tankers carrying POL.

North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, W Khyllep, said that the new district of North Garo Hills   shares a boundary with Goalpara and some of the polling stations in North Garo Hills have been listed as hypersensitive and sensitive. He requested assistance from Goalpara in terms of security during the movement of polling personnel and to
intensify patrolling in the areas which share boundary with Assam.

ADC, Goalpara, A N Hazarika, assured of all possible assistance to ensure a smooth and peaceful elections in Meghalaya. He also said that his district would provide vehicles as per the requirement and would also direct fuel pumps to stock for emergency purposes.

The meeting was also attended by Abdul Mozid, BDO, Balizora, Election Officer, Hatsingimari, SDO ( C ), D K Bothra, Superintendents of Police, West Garo Hills, North Garo Hills and South Garo Hills. (SP News)
