Shillong, October 04: The Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Mr Parvin Bakshi has call for the emergency meeting tomorrow in Tura of all the Block Development officers of the District to find out what is the problems face by them on the ground while executing the NREGS in their respective block.
The angry job card holders of Horipur VEC has burnt their own job cards to protest against Selsella Community and Rural Development Block Officials when they couldn’t appear in the polling booth to conduct the VEC election scheduled by the concern authority in an Order No. SEL/125/MGNREGS/2016-17/358. Dt. 20th, September/2016.
The anguished job card holders alleged that they have come after a hard fight against the undesirable, misconducted, corrupt and self-styled VEC Secretary Mr. Golam Hasan. The job cards holder alleged that their wages money of 42 days has been which drawn which amount to one lack, after they have made repeated complaints but no action has been taken from the government side.
But it was a shock to all the job card holders, when the authority revoked his suspension order and permitted him to continue his power and function as usual, even issued an work order for 28 days and he has withdrawn the wages money against the same order of Rs. 15,71, 024/- for 332 number of job cards.
After that he distributed the payment of Rs. 2,500/- per job cards instead of the actual wages payment of Rs. 4,732/-, following which he misappropriated a further sum of Rs. 7,41,024/-.
And then the Selsella Block authority has dissolved his VEC and directed to conduct a fresh election for the same through an Order no.SEL/125/MGNREGS/2016-17/267. Dt. 22nd, August/2016.
But unfortunately the BDO,Selsella revoked the election order for an unavoidable circumstances for a letter no. WGH/NREGS/AD.188/08/Pt.XVI/293. Dt. Tura the 23rd, August/2016. But after a few days the Programme Officer, Selsella C & RD Block rescheduled the election date and time through an official letter no. SEL/125/MGNREGS/2016-17/358. Dt. 20th, September/2016 and following this order today all the job card holders of our Horipur village has arrived to the scheduled polling booth to vote to their respective VEC candidates but unfortunately the Block official has not come to conduct the election and without assigning any reason or any official information till now, for which the majority job card holders has lost their hope/and in temper burnt their job cards in protest against the adamant officials of Selsella C & RD Block.
