Mairang, August 31: “You (Youths) are Meghalaya” said Education Minister, Shri Lakmen Rymbui while addressing the gathering of graduating students of Avenues, Aspire Meghalaya at Tirot Sing Memorial Hall, Mairang, West Khasi Hills District.
Reminding the youth that they are the future of the state, the Education Minister said that the mind and the boundary of the State lies with the youth and called upon them to join hands to build and make a strong beautiful and full of potential state of Meghalaya.
Stating that the youths are the author of their own life, Shri Rymbui said owing to peer pressure the youths of today may want to become doctors scientists or engineers but he asserted that sometimes in the midst of that journey they may find something more interesting and advised the youths, to script that journey according to the calling that they have.
The minister further said, “Sometimes we are afraid to ask a friend about something we don’t know, remember asking a friend is not a sign of weakness but a sign of you being ready to learn new things and improve whatever you have in you.”
Avenues’ Aspire Meghalaya is a programme on Soft Skills, Coaching and Talent Identification for the youth of Meghalaya supported by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and Department of Arts & Culture, Government of Meghalaya.
The Aspire Meghalaya was designed to take coaching for soft skills, wellbeing and career readiness to tribal youth of the State across rural and suburban schools and colleges.
The programmes are being rolled out by State implementation partner, AVENUES in partnership with select institutions for school and undergraduate students in 8 districts.
Certificates of participation were awarded to all successful candidates of the programmes in a ceremony conducted in the Tirot Sing Memorial Hall, Mairang.Students from Tirot Sing College, St. Thomas’ Higher Secondary School, Khadsawphra College and Mairang Presbyterian Science College graduated from themonth long programme.
Also present in the ceremony were Shri A Nongbri, SDO (C) Mairang Civil Sub – Division, Shri N Bhattacharjee, Chairman, SEAC, Village heads, Principals and Heads of the participating institutions among others.
