Shillong, March 18: The MGPS – Junior and Amateur Tour – the first ever Golf Tour of North East India will start on 20thMarch 2020 at the pristine Shillong Golf Course. The Tour is conceptualised and conducted by Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society (MGPS) – the state association for Golf in Meghalaya in association and full support from Shillong Club Ltd. (Golf Section).
The event will be played in various formats and will have some interesting events like Longest Drive Challenge, Parent and Child event etc.The Proposed Golf Calender is mentioned below.The event is being supported by Golf Trade and Champ for Life Academy.All COVID-19 Safety Protocols will be complied with.
Mr Daniel S Jyrwa – Vice President – MGPS said we are in the process of tying up with Schools for the Golf in Schools program by which we will be able to attract more kids to the Game and produce national Champions
Mr Michael Hek –Secretary – MGPS said MGPS is committed to the promotion and development of Golf in the state and our Tour will definitely promote the game of Golf in our state.
Mr Rohit Arora – Golf Captain – Shillong Club Ltd. (Golf Section) said that if we have regular events happening at Shillong Golf Course it will give us the motivation to improve the course playing conditions and maintain the Course well as per the requirements of a National event .
Mr Anil Pargal – Exc Committee member – MGPS &Tournament Director for the Tour said the opening event i.e. the Junior Tour will give a good boost to the kids to perform well and in the same time add confidence.
