Shillong, June 21: The General Secretary of the Federation Khasi Jaintia Garo People (FKJGP) of Jaintia Hills Mr R Shylla ha file the FIR after detain the truck bearing the number AS01-DD-7867, which loaded with timber that meant to be transport to Assam.
The organization has detain this truck in the early morning today from Mihmyndtu , the FKJGP alleged that this truck is transporting the plank which is illegal cut from forest in Jaintia Hills, they have handed over to the police for necessary action.
Sources close to the FKJGP said that they have taken this step just to make the authority concern that this illegal transportation of plank from Jaintia Hills to Assam is happening daily, but the authority concern take no action, the organization has no option but to take this action.
The FKJGP ha blame the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, the Forest Department and the police Department for turning blind eyes on this illegal felling of trees in Jaintia Hills District.
The Superintended of Police West Jaintia Hills District told SP News Agency that since the issued is of the forest Department he has forward the case to the department concern for further investigation.
