Shillong, June 04: The Indian Air Force invariably is the first choice and is among the ‘first responders’ in its role towards ‘Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) within India, and has on several occasions, reached out to other nations during their hour of crisis.
With an aim to galvanise all stakeholders in synergising the unified HADR efforts, HQs Eastern Air Command, IAF has taken the initiative to host a three-day HADR table top and practice exercise on 06-08 Jun 17 at Shillong to bring all stakeholders on board.
The exercise will provide a clearer understanding of the scope, role and task including challenges in air operations that need to be understood by all stakeholders for optimal result-oriented efforts of IAF in all HADR missions. Senior government officials from Army, Navy, CRPF, BSF, NCC, NSS, IDS, State Secretariat and Police, Deputy Commissioner Shillong, Meghalaya State Disaster Management, National Disaster Management authority, National disaster Relief force are among the participants.
The seminar will also enable IAF operators to exchange ideas and understand constraints of other agencies involved during HADR operations.A Joint Press conference by Chief Minister of Meghalaya and AOC-in-C, HQ Eastern Air Command is scheduled to be held on 06 Jun 17.
