The MLCU today celebrate their 11th Convocation where 582 graduates felicitated

Shillong August 24: Martin Luther Christian University today celebrated the success of its 582 graduates were felicitated  in a grand event at their 11th Convocation, which was held at Windermere Resort, Umpling in the presence of the Visitor of the University, the Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Ganga Prasad; the Convocation Speaker, Mr. Jerry Pinto; MLA of Nongthymmai Constituency, Mr. Charles Pyngrope; the Chancellor of MLCU Dr. GC Kharkongor; Vice Chancellor of MLCU Dr. VT Darlong; the graduates and faculty.

The graduates included one PhD, 284 Master’s degrees, 210 Bachelor degrees, 40 MPhil degrees and 47 Diplomas.

The university also awarded an Honourary Doctorate to Meghalaya’s very own cave expert, Mr. Brian D Kharpran Daly and also awarded the university’s first Outstanding Alumnus Award to Mr Lian Khan Siam, a graduate from the Department of Management and Commerce Studies of batch 2015.

Presiding over the ceremony as the Visitor of the university, Governor Shri. Ganga Prasad, reminded the graduates to be grateful and thankful to their parents and teachers who have helped them to get to where they are. He stressed on the fact that the graduates should utilize the skills instilled in them by the University to cope with the realities of life and to contribute not only to the upliftment of the state but also of the nation.

The convocation speaker, Mr. Jerry Pinto delivered a motivational reminder that life is dynamic and how one should move in accordance to the constant, which is change. He also stressed on the fact that the graduates should deliver more than what the world expects of them, to give that extra little bit, for fulfillment of one’s contentment. He suggested that the graduates build on their knowledge in order to be at par with the fast moving world that we live in. He concluded by wishing the graduates well for their future endeavours.

The students of MLCU also performed a rendition of the song “Million Dreams” which resonated in the hearts of the graduating students. The Convocation culminated with the singing of the MLCU anthem followed by the National Anthem.
