The MMSA of the East Khasi Hills Unite conducted CME meeting at the Majestic Hotel Polo

Shillong, Oct 28: The Meghalaya Medical Services Association East Khasi Hills Unit conducted a CME cum get together of all the Doctors of the Association at Hotel Majestic Polo, here today. Such CME cum get together of the MMSA Doctors is conducted in order to enhance and update their knowledge as well bring the feeling of unity and togetherness amongthe medical fraternity of the association.

The CME was attended by Dr Aman War DHS MI cum Advisor to the MMSA Meghalaya, Dr N Wanswet MS GDH cum I/C DHS Research Meghalaya, Dr Yevette Phira Vice President MMSA Meghalaya, Dr Macmillan Surong GS MMSA Meghalaya, Jt. Directors, Senior and Junior Doctors from various Specialties working in differenthospitals, PHC’s and CHC’s.

Speaking at the inaugural function participated by Doctors from within and outside the District, the DHS MI reiterated the importance of having such CME programme and empowering oneself with more knowledge and skills. He also applauded the theme of the CME“Unity and Knowledge Breeds Power”and urged the members to be united as an association and not to forget the central theme of the association which is “Eternal Vigilance”.

Dr T. Jamir, Emergency Physician and Head Emergency Medicine Learning Centre GVK EMRI Shillong addressed on the importance of CPR and how if CPR is initiated early a person’s life can be saved if their breathing or heart stops.

Dr S. Warjri, MD DM Cardiology consultant Nazareth Hospital and Supercare Hospital Shillong presented on the techniques of interpretation of an anticipated cardiac arrest through ECG and itsearly intervention.

Dr Michael Mawlong HOD Clinical Microbiology &Mycobacteriology Department and Dr SantanuDeb HODPediatrics Department Nazareth Hospital Shillonghighlighted on the importance of antibiotic policy to take care of the misuse and overuse of antibiotics and over the counter sale of antibiotics without a medical prescriptionwhich have driven the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and loss of efficacy of these drugs.

Also present at the CME among other dignitaries wereDr DaunipaiaSlongAsstt. Prof Forensic and Toxicology Department NEIGRIHMS, Shillong”and ShriKamakhya Prasad, MPS, Addl SP Crime Ribhoi Districtwho discussed on the various aspects one should be careful about while “Handling Medico Legal cases in day to day practiceand “MLC – Issues concerning Role of Medical Officers”
