The MSFC held a one day District Level Awareness Programme at New Nongstoin

Shillong, November 16: The Meghalaya State Food Commission (MSFC) in collaboration with Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, Meghalaya organized a one-day District Level Awareness Programme on November 16th, 2017 at Diocesan Pastoral Hall, New Nongstoin.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Prof. R.C. Laloo, informed that the purpose of holding the programme is to create awareness about the Rights of the people especially the poor relating to the Acts providing the general masses with healthy and proper nutritious food.

He also said that the Food Commission was constituted with an objective to safeguard human rights, and added that the door of the Commission is open for public complaints or dial 1967 seeking enquiry or complaints. He said that the Commission is an Apex body to take any ruling and decisions against defaulters.

During the programme, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, Education Department and Social Welfare Department gave power-point presentations on NFSA, 2013, Mid Day Meal and ICDS Nutrition Progress respectively.

Shri B. K. Dev Verma (Retd) IAS, Chairman, State Food Commission, Smti L. Kharkongor (Retd) IAS, Member, State Food Commission and Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District, Shri Arunkumar Kembhavi also spoke on the occasion.
