The NEC propose to adopt Normative Allocation of fund among the NE state: Ram

the-secretary-of-the-nec-mr-ram-muivahShillong, December 27: The Secretary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) Mr Ram Muivah said that they have proposed to adopt normative allocation of fund among the North Eastern State to avoid the allegation from state chief minister that there is biasness in the funding pattern from the NEC to the different state.

Speaking to media person at his office chambers today sai that this proposal will be place before the governing body which includes all the Governors and the Chief Ministers of the eight states, if the proposal is adopted the normative allocation of fund will start from the coming financial year 2017-2018.

As per the draft proposal, fund allocation will be based on the geographical condition, population and human index, based on this proposal Assam will be allotted 25%, Arunachal Pradesh will be 13%, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur will be 11% each and Sikkim will be the lease only 7%.

For the current financial year 2016-2017 the NEC allocate Rs.100 cores each at the average for each state with the variation here and there but without much difference, but all get hundred cores and above. Meghalaya get Rs.120 Cores.

While answering to quires, Mr Muivah said that the NEC received priority list from various state government every financial year more than Rs.4000 cores but the budget allocation to NEC is just Rs.920 core for the current year 2016-2017 and the proposed budget allocation for the coming financial is only Rs.925 cores.

Mr Muivah further said that “NEC is just like an orphans no one is to lobby for it” but it is a constitutional body where the central government provided fund for the smooth functioning and to look after the development of the North Eastern state.

The Secretary NEC also released the wall calendar of the NEC at the function in the NEC Auditorium for the year 2017.
