The NOC should be given within one month or will withdraw scheme of Rs.4000 core from Meghalaya

Shillong, June 15: The official from the ministry Road Transport Highway met the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya K S Kropha to discus about the scheme sanction by this ministry for the state of Meghalaya, that are still awaiting No Objection Certificate from the state Government.

In the meeting the Hynniewtrep Achik National Council (HANC) an NGO from West Khasi Hills is also present where they have submitted a memorandum to the official of the ministry Road Transport Highway and to the Chief Secretary government of Meghalaya.

Speaking to SP News Agency after meeting with the official of the Government of India and the Chief Secretary government of Meghalaya, Mr Riki Sohlang president of the HANC, he said that in the meeting Mr VR Rajwat from the ministry Road Transport Highway said that the government should give the No Objection Certificate for road sanction for Meghalaya with a period of one month or they will divert the scheme from Meghalaya which worth more than Rs.4000 cores.

The president of the HANC, said that from their side along with the headman from Rangblang area they well come the project sanction by the central government for road construction, they want that the KHADC should give the NOC so that the state government will give it to the ministry Road Transport Highway so that they could start constructing the two lane road in West Khasi Hills District. Along with the HANC, the headman from Rangblang area also has come together.

Most of this road that was sanction for the state of Meghalaya are mainly in West Khasi Hills District in and around  where Uranium is  deposit is their. The NGOs from West Khasi Hills are of different opinion  some are in favour and others are against this road project.(SP News)
