The NPP president, P.A Sangma and Congress candidate Daryl file nomination for Tura LS seat

Tura, March 21: Congress candidate, Daryl William Momin and National
People’s Party candidate, Purno A. Sangma today filed their nomination
to contest the Lok Sabha election from Tura parliamentary seat, which
goes for polling on April 9.

Momin was accompanied by youth affairs minister, Zenith Sangma,
parliamentary secretary, Noverfield Marak besides a large number of
supporters, which included MLAs and MDCs. Whereas, Purno Sangma was
accompanied by his daughter, Agatha K. Sangma, his legislator son,
James K. Sangma, Tura South MLA, John Leslee K Sangma and other party
functionaries.

Momin filed his nomination at 12 noon and Purno at 2 pm.  A debutant
in politics, Momin, 27, is an MBA from Bond University in Australia.

He was received outside the returning officer’s office by his
supporters, who shouted slogans praising for his victory. Momin
sounded very confident as he said, “I am not at all sacred to take on
Purno Sangma”.

He attributed his youth as his core strength to represent the people,
as he showed victory sign before his supporters.

Purno Sangma looked cheerful as he was welcomed with garlands by his
supporters. “I am confident that Garo hills will vote to free India
from the Congress”, said Sangma.

It will be a straight fight between Purno and Daryl for Tura Lok Sabha seat.

Last date of nomination is tomorrow up to 3 pm. Scrutiny will be held
on Monday and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is March 26.(SP News)
