The Railway Protection Force of NFR apprehended six touts recovered railway tickets

Maligaon, March 13:The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway acted upon information and raided six shops, agencies in six different locations during last few days to check illegal sale of railway tickets.

During this raid, 65 railway tickets worth more than ninety thousand rupees were recovered. During the raid conducted on 9th& 10th March, 2022, six persons were also apprehended and prosecuted them under section 143 of the Railways Act.

In an incident on 10th March, 2022, a team of RPF/CIB/Rangiya conducted a raid at ‘Govindo Cyber Net’ located at Nabadwipe market, Bongaigaon. Six railway e-tickets worth more than Rs. 05 thousand along with two computers and a mobile phone with SIM card were recovered.

The owner of the shop was apprehended. On the same day, RPF team of Badarpur conducted a search operation at a shop named ‘Anika Travels’ located near New S.T. Road, Badarpur.

The team recovered 17 numbers of railway e-tickets worth around 33 thousand rupees along with a computer set and a mobile phone. The owner of the shop was also taken into custody. In another incident, on the same day, a decoy check was conducted by a RPF team of Dharmanagar at a shop named ‘Kairi Brother Xerox’ located at Lowairpoa Bazaar, Karimganj with the help of local police.

The team recovered 17 railway e-tickets worth more than Rs. 27 thousand along with a laptop and a mobile phone with SIM card. In this connection, one person was also apprehended. Apprehended persons were prosecuted under section 143 of the Railways Act.

On the same day of 10th March, 2022, RPF team of Dimapur conducted a raid at a shop named ‘Dhansiri Online Services and Technology’ located  at Chungajan area and recovered 07 used railway e-tickets worth more than Rs. 02 thousand along with a mobile phone. The owner of the shop was apprehended.

In another incident on that day, RPF team of Chaparmukh searched a travel agency named ‘N. K. Travels’ located at Juria Bazar, Nagaon and apprehended the owner of the agency. The RPF recovered 12 railway PRS tickets worth more than Rs. 14 thousand, 26 filled-up & 59 blank railway reservation forms and a mobile phone with one Voter ID card. Apprehended persons were prosecuted under section 143 of the Railways Act.

In a similar incident on 9th March, 2022, team of RPF and GRP of Dibrugarh conducted an anti-touting activity drive at Naliapool area, Dibrugarh. A shop named ‘Shanti Communication’ was raided and 06 e-tickets worth more than Rs. 08 thousand along with a computer set and other accessories were recovered. The owner of the shop was taken into custody and prosecuted him under section 143 of the Railways Act.

The RPF of N. F. Railway keeps a close vigil on touting activities to prevent illegal selling of Railway Tickets. Unauthorized carrying on of business of procurement and supply of railway tickets is a punishable offence under section 143 of the Railways Act.
