The Railway should be link upto Sohra to promote tourism: Dr Mukul

Shillong, June 15: The Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma today holds the review meeting on the Railway Project in the state with the official from the North Eastern Railway Frontier. The meeting is crucial after the KSU disrupt the construction of the Railway Line Ranghana in Ri Bhoi District.

After the review meeting the Chief Minister told the media, that to have Railway in the state is a culmination of a long drawn exercise since 2010-2011 and this will improve tourism and it will help farmers in the state to market their Agricultural produce.

When it comes to influx the government is very much aware about it of having entry and exit point, but the government has gone much beyond by having facilitation as centre at Railway Station and it will start with Mendipathar in North Garo Hills District.

The Chief Minister also on its view that Railway should connect upto Sohra, but this will be only for promotion of tourism. If these things happen it will only delay good things that are coming in the state. The government has not diluted the intention.

Dr Mukul Sangma said that we must look the intention for the larger interest of the state, elected government will always represent the aspiration of the people. He has asked the Railway official to woke up the module of having felicitations centre in the Railway Station to curb influx starting with Mendipathar Railway Station.
