The returning officer for 2-Tura by-election prohibit exit poll

Shillong, May 05:The District election and returning officer to the 2-Tura Parliamentary Constituency for this by-election has prohibit any publication in any form related with the exit poll on or before the voting day.

 In the press statement the District Election Officer and Returning Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura has informed that as per the notification dated 28th April, 2016 issued by the Election Commissioner of India, conduct of any exit poll and publishing or publicizing by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in any other names whatsoever, the result of any exit poll in connection with the Bye-Election to 2- Tura (ST) Parliamentary Constituency is prohibited between 7:00 AM and 6:30 PM on 16.05.2016.

It is further clarified that under Section 126 (i) (b) of the R.P. Act 1951, displaying any election matter including results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media would be prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll for the aforesaid Bye-Election.
