The two day CME programme on HIV and TB concluded at Military Hospital

Shillong, March 09: The two day Continuous Medical Education  (CME)  programme  on HIV and TB concluded on 09 Mar 2014 at Military Hospital Shillong. The purpose of  CME was to educate and reorient medical professionals from civil and defence services, about HIV and TB co-infection, and specific issues pertinent to northeast region of India.

The second day of CME on HIV-TB co-infection saw deep discussion by the medical fraternity of both army and civil doctors. The topic included HAART (Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy), HIV Treatment in  Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis, skin and eye manifestation on HIV and TB.

Colonel Manas Chatterjee, of the Department of Dermatology at Command Hospital Kolkatta, brought out the peculiarity of managing skin manifestation of HIV-TB. Brigadier MK Garg commandant in his concluding address said that the CME has been extremely useful for the doctors of Shillong and Meghalaya In dealing with complications of HIV –TB among the patients of this region. The organising secretary Lt Col S Mondal thanked all the Doctors who attended the programme for their contribution on the subject.(SP News)
