Shillong, May 17: Whereas, reports have been received from the Incident Commander, Zone-I that the public at Laitumkhrah are not following the protocols, despite regulation on opening of shops, and strict instructions that people should move out only for essential purposespurposes.
It was noticed that many are not complying to the protocols of the Health Department, And that many shops were seen to be crowded, and there are still some persons who are not wearing masks or observing physical distancing with due diligence, And it was also observed that people are moving from one locality to another despite restrictions, and vehicles without passes are plying about.
And whereas this laxity is a cause of concern in view of the ongoing fast spread of Covid-19, Hence exercise of the powers conferred under the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 for containment of any possible spread of COVID-19.
The Deputy Commissioner directed that all shops in Laitumkhrah including market area and street vendors along the whole stretch of Laitumkhrah main road shall remain closed with immediate effect and until further orders.
The Superintendent of Police and Incident Commmander, Zone-I will ensure compliance to the order, and meticulously plan regulated opening in consultation with the Market Committees and CCMT so that there is discipline following of protocols.
