To create awareness on the dangers of drugs, KSU- KJPSSUM organized public Rally in Shillong

Shillong, April 28: The Khasi Students Union (KSU) Jaiaw Circle in collaboration with the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi Urban Mission today organized public rally with an aim to create awareness amongst the youths about the dangers of drugs.

The SP City Vivek Syiem in charge Anti-Narcotic Cell of Shillong Police, in his address at the rally held at Madan Student said that in the past drug cases are prevalent in few localities in the city, but in the last ten years drugs has crept to almost every locality in Shillong city and drug users is increasing.”

Further the SP City reveal that few years back people who are using drugs are adult person but naw even minor below the age of 12 are indulge into drugs. Most harmful drugs that comes into Meghalaya are from neighbouring states like Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram is Heroine and another factor is that many of our borders does not have proper fencing.

Drugs in Shillong City are packed in small container and the cost per container is about Rs. 8000, many are not able to buy it, this drugs user resolute theft and robbery. In East Khasi Hills more than 1000 cases are register and  50 percent of this cases are related to drugs.

The rally to fight against drugs started from Jaiaw Lumpyllon Dorbar Hall and culminated at Madan Student. In this rally many School with Jaiaw area participate along with the members of the Khasi Student Union.  During the rally the students made a slogan saying “No to Drugs”.
