To promote Digital payment Dist-level training held at Ampati

Ampati, April 21: In order to orient the people about digital payment and promote cashless transaction, a one-day district level training on Digital Payment was organized by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), South West Garo Hills in the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises, Ampati on Friday.

During the day-long training,  topics on various digital payment modes and related subjects like Digital payment facilities under SBI, Unified Payment Interface (UPI), Aadhar Enabled Payment System (AEPS), General Process on Bank Account Opening, Mobile Registration, Accessing Debit Card, Operational Process at ATMs, Point of sale (PoS) and Mobile Based Point of Sale, Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) and Mobile wallets or Code were taken up for discussion by resource persons.

Welcoming the participants and resource persons to the programme, Deputy Commissioner Cyril Diengdoh highlighted on the advantages of digital payment and stressed the need for all to open bank accounts.

The resource persons included Regional Manager, HDFC Bank, Guwahati Dipankar Sharma and Branch Manager, SBI Ampati, A.W. Momin, among others. ADC & PD, DRDA, H.D.B. Sangma and other officials from the Agency were also present to facilitate the training for hundreds of job card holders under MGNREGA, block functionaries and VEC and SHG members from across the district.

It may be mentioned that with emphasis on digital payment mode, especially with regard to government sponsored rural development programmes, such trainings have been necessitated to familiarize the rural people on various means of digital payment to promote cashless transaction and strengthen rural economy.
