Shillong, Nailar 02: The Cabinet today has taken the decision to amendment to the Meghalaya Identification Registration Safety and Security of Migrant Works (MIRSS) Act , 2020, and the Meghalaya Identification Registration Safety and Security of Migrant Works Rules, 2020 and one of the major component of the new amendment is that the State Government will optimise to check the antecedent of migrant workers.
This is to ensure that only thus with no criminal antecedent can join the work force as migrant workmen hear in Meghalaya, the cabinet have decided will make use of assistance central system call the crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS).
Under these system which is date base of the crime and criminal we will ensure that on the bases of this data available to verified the antecedent of migrant workers and the local police will also will be able to verified this antecedent base on this system, the system ia available with the police.
The department of Labouer will coordinate accordingly to ensure that the records of thus will be register hear in Meghalaya as migrant workers hear in Meghalaya will be verified, the cabinet also decided that under the original act 2020 there was a provision is that whoever is found guilty of violating the act they were liable to the penalty of Rs.5000 fined.
The decision of the cabinet will bring this up to the state assembly in the coming session to enhance this fined from Rs.5000/- to Rs.100000/- rupees per offender, in the case of repeat offender there will be an imprisonment for a term not exceeding three month, these was the cabinet has decided today, in form Paul Lyngdoh.
