Two Anganwadi workers from Meghalaya receives National Award from Union Minister

Shillong, December 23, 2016: In recognition of the exemplary work and exceptional achievement of anganwadi workers in the country, the Union Minister of Women & Child Development, Government of India, Smti. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, gave away the National Awards to Anganwadi workers for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16. The awards were given away at a function in New Delhi on 22nd December, 2016.

A total of 97 Anganwadi workers from different States and Union Territories, including two from Meghalaya, were conferred National level awards. The Anganwadi workers from the State who received the award included Smt. Witawan Sungoh, Anganwadi Worker, Nongbah Lumshor, Thadlaskein ICDS Project, West  Jaintia Hills District and Smt. Silbi Pohing, Anganwadi Worker Rata Cherra, West AWC Khliehriat ICDS Project,East Jaintia Hills District.
