Shillong, Dec 01: Mr. Reebokstar Diengdoh president and Mr. Alerick Kharjana general secretary of the Shillong law College Unit stated that the North Eastern Hills University has not announce the final results of the Six Semester of the Law Students.
The Shillong Law College that is affiliated to NEHU is one of the oldest colleges for Law aspiring students. Every year, hundreds of students graduate from the college aspiring to be successful lawyers in the state.
However, it is sad to see that the students are being held back from realizing their dreams and aspirations because of the mere carelessness and delay in delivering the responsibilities by the university.
When almost all the universities had released the mark sheets for the 6th semester students as well as started the admission procedure for the post graduate courses, the students of Shillong Law college who fall under NEHU had no clue as when will they receive their results.
Due to the failure of NEHU to announce the results for the final semesters students and their marksheets resulted in the students failing to apply for the post graduate courses in other universities. Will NEHU take the blame for the student’s loss.
Surprisingly, which many students cannot comprehend is the fact that NEHU succeeded in announcing the Merit list for admission into its LLM course when the its very own students of Shillong Law College did not receive their Final Year results.
Does it show that NEHU has no intention to admit its own students for LLM post graduate course? Or under what criteria was the Merit list announced still remains a mystery for the students.
Under the pressure of the student body Khasi Student’s Union Shillong Law College Unit, NEHU did announce the results for its final year students on the 7th of October 2021, but that had a twist too.
The final overall results were announced even for the students who were awaiting results for their Improvement papers. How can NEHU claim a particular has passed or failed when the previous years results have not been announced, What does this reflect on the way the university functions, Do they not realize the impact this makes on the future of the students.
In addition, despite the results being announced on the 7th of October 2021, the mark sheets have not been available to the students till date. As a result, the students have neither been able to apply for other courses in different universities nor have they been able to apply for their license that would enable them to practice in court and earn their livelihood.
These are just a few of the scenarios where NEHU has failed in its responsibilities and compromised with the future of its students. Its only appropriate that the concerned authorities intervene into this matter at the earliest and make the accountable for their failures to deliver their duties on time which has affected not only the students but their livelihood, dreams and aspirations.
