Shillong, March 22: The Continuing its efforts to extend helping hand, a civic action cum medical camp organized at Dangar by Border Security Force to provide medical and health aides of the bordering people. On 21st Mar’ 2018 earlier an eye screening camp was organized by Composite Hospital BSF Shillong at Danger area on the Indo-Bangladesh border for the civil population residing on borders on 8th, 9th , 10th of Jan’ and more than 350 persons were screened for visual acuity.
Out of which 173 civilians were prescribed vision corrective glasses and more than a dozen were detected as case of cataract. The persons who were detected as a case of cataract were operated upon by the efforts of BSF Medical team under the National Blindness Control Programme. These operations were conducted at zero cost to the concerned person. Vision corrective glasses were prepared by the BSF for all the 173 needy patients from border area and today on 21st Mar’ 2018, spectacles were distributed amongst them by Sh. L. Mohanti, IPS, Inspector General Frontier Head Quarter BSF Meghalaya. This service of BSF medical team Shillong provided to border population has revived their vision and help them to have a better day to day life.
Simultaneously with this event another eye screening camp and medical camp was also organized at the same location to cover the left over persons who could not avail the facilities during the first camp organized during January. Besides providing assistance in visual acuity, the BSF medical team also organized a screening camp for diabetes and Hepatitis B & C. During the camp 120 male, 101 females alongwith 49 children were screened and provided free medication alongwith the suitable advices. The medical team of Composite Hospital BSF Shillong was lead by Dr A C Bhardwajan, DIG (MED)/MS, CH BSF Shillong comprising Eye specialist, General physician and 01 lady doctor. Village head has expressed deep appreciation for the noble job being done by BSF in general and medical team of Composite Hospital BSF Shillong in particular.
