Amidst The Republic Day Celebrations BSF seized 367 Cattle along the Meghalaya Border

Shillong, Jan 26: To ensure high degree of alertness and vigil on the International Border with Meghalaya, BSF Frontier Head Quarter Meghalaya , during the last one week i.e  ahead of the Republic Day, conducted Exercise ‘Ops Alert’ and intensified its domination along the Border.

Special operations were launched to ensure incident free celebration, amidst the Intelligence inputs of infiltration of Insurgent cadre. The cattle smuggling did not subsided and the trans-border smuggling syndicate continued with their nefarious design.

In spite of hostile terrain and extreme weather the Sentinels kept a close watch and tight vigil along the International Border especially on the sensitive patches. On the eve of Republic Day, BSF Meghalaya seized 367 cattle which were to be smuggled to Bangladesh.

Border Security Force Celebrated the Republic Day at various headquarters in  Meghalaya. The flag hoisting ceremony was held at 0830 hrs at  BSF HQs  Umpling which was followed by singing of the National Anthem.

Mr Kuldeep Saini, Inspector General, BSF unfurled the National Flag , addressed  the gathering and expressed pride in the rich cultural past of the country. The patriotic fervour warmed up the cold winter morning. The BSF band and the marching contingent also participated in the State Republic Day celebrations at Shillong.

The BSF PRO said that ‘In past, BSF has carried out joint operations with state police and is looking forward for more support and corporation  of State authorities in curbing the trans-border crime specially cattle smuggling.”
