Shillong, August 30: In light of the shabby construction work on the RCC Bridge at Wahshang located near Pamlatar and Umtyrkhang village Ri Bhoi District, MDC of Mawhati Constituency James Sylliang will soon submit a complaint letter against the Dhar Construction overlooking the construction work at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ri Bhoi District.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Sylliang said, he will personally submit the complaint letter against Dhar Construction to the DC of Ri Bhoi, C.P Gotmare.” It may be mentioned that the under construction RCC Bridge aims at connecting Pamlatar village which falls under Mawhati Constituency.
“In this connection I will apprise the DC that the Dhar Construction which is overlooking the construction work on the collapsed bridge is taken to task as per the law,” he said.
Sylliang said he will also request the DC to direct Dhar Construction to pay compensation to all the labourers engaged in constructing the collapsed bridge who have sustained injuries.
He further informed that he will soon send a letter to the Executive Engineer (EE) of PWD Umsning with regards to the sudden collapse of the bridge.
“The PWD department in the future should screen the contractors properly especially those engaged in construction work at Mawhati Constituency so that such an incident which might cause harm more so towards the general public can be avoided,” he said.
