Shillong, July 26: The Meghalaya State BJP on Tuesday asserted that the main purpose for the formation of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) is to embrace all regional parties in the North East to give them a platform to voice their grievances on the various schemes launched by the central government.
Talking to media person at the BJP office today , State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said, “Until and unless we have our very own legislator in the assembly there is no one to voice the schemes of the central government so the BJP feels that it should call all the non-congress parties especially in Meghalaya and Mizoram where we don’t have a single BJP legislator to voice their views the schemes.”
He said that on 24 May when the BJP government take oath in Guwahati, “The central leaders of BJP felt that since it is the gateway into the North East and having elected BJP into power we should take all these states in Assam for development because so many schemes have been launched by the central government to bring to the people of the region for development.”
To highlight in the respective assembly the regional parties should speak in their concern assembly on the various schemes launched by the central government. On this regard BJP had sent letters to all the regional parties of the NE and there after held a meeting on 22 June in Guawahati and had decided to launch the platform.
“By taking those regional parties who agree for the development of the region and later on the 13 July in the presence of the party’s national president Amit Shah they have declared that NEDA is formed,” he said. He said NEDA according to its agenda will have one office in Guwahati so all these regional parties who have joined can come and submit their grievances and get the information to all the schemes launched by the central government.
