Shillong, Feb 18: The attention of the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), which comprises of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF), All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Garo Students’ Union (GSU) and All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) representing eight major students’ movements of the seven North Eastern States, is drawn to the statement made by BJP President, Amit Shah in his tour of Assam.
In his speech, wherein he stated that the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill would again be brought back by the BJP if it comes to power. In this regard, NESO strongly condemns such statement as this is an insult to the people’s movement of the whole of North East against this CAB which results to the inability of the BJP led Central Government to table this Bill in the recently concluded session of the Rajya Sabha.
This statement is also a clear reflection of the mindset which indicates that they don’t have any regard for the sentiments, emotions and welfare of the indigenous peoples of the North East but rather their design is to reduce the microscopic indigenous communities to a minority by flooding the region with illegal Bangladeshis to achieve their Hindutva objective. NESO, would again like to reiterate our stand that we are against the illegal Bangladeshis and we do not differentiate them on the basis of their religion, an illegal Bangladeshi is an illegal Bangladeshi irrespective whether a Hindu or Muslim.
The NESO would like to send a clear message to this fellow and his ilk that we will never accept this draconian Bill and also call upon all the indigenous peoples of the North East to stand united to thwart such evil designs for the survival of our race, identity, culture, language and our future generations.
