State govt handed 200 acres of land to the GOI for setting up CAU in Ri Bhoi District

Shillong, April 17: The agriculture minister Mr Banteidor Lyngdoh in his reply to the question put by Mr Syntar Klas Sunn MLA from Mawphlang, said that the work for the construction for the Central Agriculture University is in Progress.

The minister inform the house that the state government has acquired 200 acres of Land on the way between Umsning and Kerdemkulai in Ri Bhoi District from the Kharsati Clans at the cost of Rs.5.49 cores and the land was handed to the central government on 4th December 2014.

The 40 acres of land belong to the MeECL opposite ICAR was handed to the Government of India and the work is in progress, this additional land is for an extension of the Central Agricultural University.

On the issued, the Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma said that, from the state government would like to see that the University will be in place in that state of Meghalaya and on what the members discuss with the ICAR official he not aware. He inform that house that the central government recently has released Rs.30 Cores for the University.
