Shillong, June 15: The BJP Meghalaya State Unit will asked Meghala Democratic Alliance to call the band outfit the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) for peace talk to bring peace in the state.
The BJP president state unit Mr Ernest Mawri as the party who are part of the coalition, they will asked the Government on inviting the HNLC for peace talk.
Mr Mawri said that the banned militant outfit had earlier expressed teir willingness to sit for discussions even as lambasting the Government for not taking steps to take their offer for holding of peace talks forward.
However, the State Government on the other hand had wanted the HNLC to lay down their arms first to show their seriousness that they wanted to rejoin the mainstream.
The BJP State president also mentioned that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over, insurgency related incidence has come down by 70 percent in the North East and 79 per ent reduction in civilian deaths.
He also informed that kidnapping and extortion has gone down by 62 percent in the region and 78 percent reduction in security force casualties. He said this is the way forward for peace.
