Shillong, September 06: The Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma today in the meeting with the Ri Bhoi Student Union (RBSU) assured them that the state government will not creat Government College but it will set up with the Community College in Ri Bhoi District.
Mr E J Nongpluh president of the RBSU told media after the meeting with the Chief Minister in his office camber this evening said that in the meeting the chief minister has assured them with the community college to be set up in Ri Bhoi District, and the department is looking for suitable location.
The RBSU president said that the demand of the organization is to have a government college in Eastern Ri Bhoi some where in Umroi area, but in the meeting with the Chief Minister today the Chief Minister told them it is not possible to have Government college, since teachers are transferable, but with the community college once they are appointed they have to served the college till the end of their service.
In the meeting with the Chief Minister the RBSU has also submitted the memorandum to the Chief Minister to convert the Umsning- Mawhati Jagiroad into National High way. So that people travel from Nothern Assam to Meghalaya will be easy. The length of the Road is 90 Km but if converted into the national highway it will be reduce to only 60 Km. On this road the Chief Minister told the RBSU that it was already in the budget.
