The High Court of Meghalaya directed GoM to bear the medical treatment of Smt. Agnes- Amita

Shillong, Nov 15: In the WP(C) No.433/2018 file by Amita R Sangma and Agnes Kharshiing in the High Court of Meghalaya. After taking up the write petition, The High Court of Meghalaya has directed the Government of Meghalaya to bear the cost of medical treatment.

NEIGRIHMS as well as the state shall ensure that all medical facilities as shall be required are made available to both the injured social activist of CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing and her colleague Amita Sangma  who while exposing social cause  were attacked by some coal mafia.

The court directed the investigation officer to file a report on the latest status of the inquiry into the attack and the officer was asked to be present in court along with case diary on the next hearing on the 27th November 2018. The petitioner also prayed for investigation by specialised agency.

The additional solicitor general submits that the injured persons are admitted in NEIGRIHMS and there is no scope for any person to cause harm to them. However, the court directed the Director General of Police to take appropriate measures for ensuring protection of the injured persons.
