The MYPC observed the 76th birth anniversary of late PM Mr. Rajiv Gandhi by planting trees at Tura

Tura, August, 20: The Indian Youth Congress observed former Prime Minister late Shri Rajiv Gandhi’s 76th birth anniversary all over India. The theme of the programme was Plant Trees Save Lives and it was a symbolic protest against the draft EIA.

Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress also observed the day in Meghalaya.The MPYC organised a programme at Congress Bhawan, Tura by planting trees.

The congress party leaders present during this tree plantation were, Mr. Zenith Sangma, West Garo Hills DCC President and MLA Rangsakona, MPYC President Shri Richard Mrong Marak, Smt. Selma D Shira, President Tura City Congress Committee, MPYC Secretary Shri Gamrik K Sangma, MPYC Secretary Dr. Saljagringgrang R Marak, MPYC Secretary Smt. Yuseviana Manda.

West Garo Hills DYC President Shri Rupa Marak, North Tura AYC President Shri Jabirong D Shira, South Tura AYC President Shri Shungchi Eliute T Sangma, DCC members and other Youth Congress office bearers and members. The programme started with a Welcome Speech by Dr Saljagringgrang R Marak, then a floral tribute to Late Rajiv Gandhi.

After that a short speech by Smt. Selma D. Shira. Then Shri Zenith M Sangma spoke at length about the life history of Late Rajiv Gandhi. At the end of the programme, Shri Richard Marak gave a vote of thanks. After the vote of thanks, the gathered held a symbolic silent protest against the draft EIA 2020 in front of Congress Bhawan, Tura with placards.

After the programme at Congress Bhawan, a tree plantation drive was organised on Ballonggre Pelga road which was graced by Dr Mukul Sangma, Leader of Opposition and Smt. Dikkanchi D. Shira, MLA, Mahendraganj Constituency.
