Shillong, September 26: The Music lovers of Shillong were in for a treat as the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan, one of India’s biggest classical music extravaganzas was held on Saturday 24th September 2016 in 24 different cities across the country simultaneously.
In the North East it was only Shillong where this event took prominence for some other reasons. It created history as it was for the first time that Western Music was included in the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan. Prior to this, only Hindustani & Carnatic Music was part of the Sammelan.
The Music Concert on Saturday was held at the U Soso Tham Auditorium. It featured the famous Western Classical Violinist Prosanto Chunder Dutt accompanied by his wife Malabika Dutt on digital Piano. This was followed by the performance of Soulmate, a Shillong based Blues Band, famous for their Blues Music. Rudy Wallang, Tipriti Kharbangar , Leon & Vincent of Soulmate enthralled the audience.
The Musical evening ended with the electrifying & energetic performance of Lou Majaw & friends who entertained the audience in his well known style. The recording of this programme will be aired by All India Radio on 30th November 2016
