Shillong, April 07: Shillong Station Garden Competition & Flower Show 2018 was held from 03 Apr to 06 Apr 2018. The first such competition was conducted in the year 1994 and since then it is an Annual event.
The competition was conducted in three partsi i.e. Gardens, Potted plants and Flower arrangements and there was an overwhelming response from all ranks including families and children. Despite unseasonal ‘Hail Storm’ the participants braved the inclement weather conditions and came fwd in the spirit.
The competition was judged by eminent Horticulturist from ShillongAgri-Horticultural Society led by MrVishu Singhania, SmtSyrpai L Dkhar, Smt R.B.M Umlong and Smt F. Sun. The competition commenced on 03 Apr 18 with judging of Gardens of various army units. Simultaneously three sets of judges visited the Regimental Offricers Messes, Offices, Guest Rooms, Holiday Homes and Institutes.
Potted Plant competition was held on 05 Apr 18 where approximately 343 potted plant entries under 17 different categories were judged at Rhino Training Complex. On 06 Apr 18 Flower arrangement competition in respect of fresh and dry styles was held.
Event culminated with prize distribution to the winners by Lieutenant General DS Ahuja, AVSM, General Officer Commanding.
