Union Minister Mr. Jyotiraditya inaugurated of IndiGo direct flights from Shillong to Dibrugarh

Shillong, Oct 25: To strengthen regional connectivity, IndiGo, India’s leading carrier, announced its direct flights between Shillong and Dibrugarh under RCS scheme, effective October 26, 2021. The new route was inaugurated today with lamp lighting at the Shillongairport as well as Ministry of Civil Aviation in New Delhi.

The ceremony was graced by Union Minister for Civil Aviation  Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma and other eminent dignitaries from Shillong at the airport.

The addition of Shillong as a destination, is a part of IndiGo’s strategy to enhance domestic connectivity toNorth-eastern parts of the country, to fulfil demand from regional centres while enhancing accessibility.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer, IndiGosaid, “We are pleased tocommence direct connectionsbetween the capital of Meghalaya and industrial city of Assam under Regional Connectivity Scheme.

These new domestic flights will strengthen regional connectivity and promote trade, commerce, as well as tourism through increased accessibility.

The hill-station of North-eastern India, Shillong, is known for its natural beauty and indigenous cultures. Direct connections between the tea city of India, Dibrugarh to the capital city of Meghalaya, will cater to the regional travel demand.

The IndiGo also operates flights betweenShillongand four other cities including Silchar, Agartala, Imphal, and Kolkata. The airline connects Shillong to key cities in the country through its hub in Kolkata.
