Shillong, Oct 24: A Special Campaign titled ‘Khadi Mahotsav’ with the tag line “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion” is being celebrated from this year onards across the State during 2nd October to 31st October.
The objective of the Khadi Mahotsav-23 is to promote Khadi, Village Industries, Handloom and Handicraft products, ODOP products and products of various traditional and cottage industries being manufactured locally in the State and to further promote the idea of “Vocal for Local” campaign and ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ envisioned by the Prime Minister.
On this auspicious occasion, State Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Shillong (Meghalaya) has been conducting various programs like Seminar, Khadi Yatra, Khadi Pledge.
A three days Mini Exhibition is being organized by this office from 21st to 23rd October, 2023 at Oakland Bivar Road Durga Puja Committee, Oakland, Police Bazar during Durga Puja Celebration wherein 6 no. of stalls are being displayed by covering (like- Khadi, Village Industries, Handicrafts, PMEGP, ODOP, SHGs, etc.) who are participating and displaying their products (cum sale) on the occasion of Khadi Mahotsav-2023.
The said 3 days Mini-Exhibition was being inaugurated by Prof. (Dr) Vijay Kumar, HoD – Swasthavritta and Yoga, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH), Mowdiangdiang, Shillong in the presence of Shri Mange Ram, State Director, Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Shillong (Meghalaya), other Officials and Staff including the exhibitors.
During inaugurating, Dr. Vijay Kumar had an interaction with all the exhibitors and other various schemes of KVIC being implemented were also explained by the Director.
All the exhibitors were acknowledged for their contribution towards the “Vocal for Local” Campaign and praised for promoting the growth and economy of the country by the KVIC.
