Tura, June 26: A wild elephant gorged one person to death at Gangbanga
village, near Dalu in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills today.
The incident took place around 2 AM, when Warson Sangma, 32, a lower
primary school teacher came out to see a herd of three elephant, which
included a calf in the neigbourhood.
Gangbanga village is along Indo-Bangladesh village, about 48 km from Tura.
Police say that Sangma was attacked, when he was trying to locate the
elephants at the neigbourhood. “It was dark, so he did not possibly
see the elephants approaching him”, said police.(SP News)
