Shillong, April 09: Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff, accompanied by Mrs. Lily Raha, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) will arrive at Shillong on two days’ official visit to Headquarters Eastern Air Command (EAC). The CAS will be interacting with all the Field Commanders during the EAC Commanders’ Conference planned on 10 & 11 Apr 14. This will be his first visit to HQ EAC after assuming the Office of the CAS.
Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha graduated from National Defence Academy, Pune with the President’s Gold Medal in 1973 and was commissioned in the Flying Branch in Dec 1974. He is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College Wellington and the National Defence College Delhi. He is an experienced Fighter Pilot with nearly 3400 hours of flying experience on variety of fighter aircrafts. He was deputed as the military and air attaché in the Embassy of India, Kiev, Ukraine from 1999 to 2001. He has the rare distinction of being the Air Officer Commanding in Chief of two Operational Commands that is Central Air Command and Western Air Command.
Mrs. Lily Raha, President AFWWA, will participate in various welfare functions, which are being planned by Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional). She will be addressing the Board of Management Meeting of AFWWA (R).(SP News)
