Shillong, July 29: Army Karate Node at Assam Regimental Centre (ARC ) Happy Valley Shillong is conducting Army Karate trials. The trials are being conducted from 28 Jul to 30 Jul 2016. A total of 64 Karatekas from all over the Indian Army are participating in the trials. The Karate Node at ARC conducts trials for army and Services every year to select the best out of the best Karatekas, to achieve the ultimate goal of securing medals at international level championships.
The Army Karate Node is performing exceptionally well under the able leadership of Hav Sawan Kumar, who has been performing the duties of Coach, at the Army Karate Node, Assam Regimental Centre, under his guidance the karatekas were able to participates in 3rd SHITO RYU SEIKO KAI Asia Cup Karate Championship held from 03 to 05 May 2013 at New Delhi, 2nd AKF Champion Cup held from 18 to 21 Nov 2014 at Tianjan City, China, 13th Senior Asian Karate Championship held from 04 to 06 Sep 2015 at Yokohama, Japan and lastly during the 8thCommonwealth Karate Championship held from 18 to 20 Sep 2015 at New Delhi.
The Army Karate Node was established on 01 April 2007 at Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong. The Karatekas of the Node since its inception were able to secure 12 Gold, 04 Silver and 02 Bronze medals at International level and 42 Gold, 26 Silver and 18 Bronze medal at National level Championship.
