Ampati, October 07: A District Level Awareness Campaign under Systematic Voter’s Education & Enrollment Participation (SVEEP) was today kick started at Ampati with a slogan writing and drawing competition. The campaign is being organized by the Deputy Commissioner (Election), South West Garo Hills, Ampati and aims at maximizing enrollment and electoral participation of all enrolled and eligible voters in the district. The campaign themed “no voter to be left behind”will lay special emphasis on the participation of the differently abled.
The inaugural session was followed by a drawing competition for the general public, School students and the differently abled. A slogan writing competition was also held for school students and the participants who attended the gathering.
Delivering the key note address, Addl Deputy Commissioner & Project Director DRDA H D B Sangma stated that the campaign was being held to encourage participation of voters in the electoral process. She informed that programmes under SVEEP are held every year during the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls.
Urging eligible voters to enroll in the electoral roll she instructed them to fill up form number 6 and submit it to Booth Level Officer of respective polling stations for enrollment. She also focused on various problems faced by the Deputy Commissioner (Election) during hearings on various election related verification of electorates and shed light on how to mitigate it.
Later, Assistant Systems Engineer, DC (Election), Swarupananda Banai went through the various facets of enrollment into the electoral roll through the aid of a power point presentation to illuminate the gathering on the process.
