Ampati, October 26: An awareness programme on housekeeping and security guard under Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) was today held for the youth of South West Garo Hills at Ampati Multi Facility Centre near here. Close to 100 youth from Ampati, Zikzak, Betasing & Mahendraganj registered and attended the programme organized by the South West Garo Hills district administration in collaboration with the Delhi based company Peregrine Guarding Pvt Ltd.
The programme aimed at creating awareness on human resource development through various skill development programmes under MSSDS and especially the training and placement of candidates for housekeeping and security guards.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner C V D Diengdoh urged the youth to grasp the opportunity with both hands. He stated that the government had undertaken the initiative to fill the gap in human resource development through the MSSDS.
Speaking on skill development the Deputy Commissioner informed that the district administration would be training 60,000 youth in the coming years to enhance their skill-sets and improve employability in various sectors. Lauding the efforts of the government in bringing such an opportunity to the doorsteps of the youth of the region Dengdoh urged the youth not to shy away from dignity of labour.
Diengdoh later instructed the Employment Exchange Officer I A Sangma to mobilize the youth to attend such skill development programmes.
During the day, resource person, Instructor Sher Singh Yadav demonstrated the use of walkie talkie handsets, fire extinguishers and frisking methods to the youth. He also spoke on the history and aims & objectives of the Peregrine Guarding Pvt Ltd.
A power point presentation on various training activities of Peregrine Guarding Pvt Ltd was also shown for the benefit of the participants during the programme.Among others who spoke at the occasion were EAC D A Sangma, Superintendent of Police Ramesh Singh and Ampati Basin Development Unit Programme Assistant Silgrak Sangma.
