Cattle smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya getting rampant

Shillong, September 01: Cattle smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya seems getting rampant, despite the Border Security Force foiling these attempts effectively. But the never-ending demand from Bangladesh keeps fuelling the illegal act. The BSF troops once again showing constant alertness on Indo-Bangladesh border seized a huge number of cattle i.e. 28 Nos in the area of Nayabazar, East Khasi Hills and Balughat, South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya while being smuggled to Bangladesh.

The cattle carriers/smugglers managed to flee taking advantage of undulating ground and thick foliage. Due to continuous incessant rain in Meghalaya since last few days, these cattle smugglers are frequently attempting to exploit adverse climatic conditions to smuggle cattle and other contraband items. The cattle smugglers with the help of local goons bring the cattle to the forested areas and look for opportune moment to smuggle these animals from unfenced border. BSF has been perusing the locals for their support in erection of IBBF to curb this menace.

Despite, continuous cattle seized by the BSF troops on Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya state, the smuggler repeatedly trying to smuggle to Bangladesh only to feat handsome money without any investment. BSF has increased extra vigil and alertness on the international border to curb and prevent smuggling.
