Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany organizes a training programmne for farmers in Jowai

Jowai, April 21: A 2nd training programmne entitled ‘Popularization and dissemination of Technology of Biopesticide formulation among the poor and marginal farmers of weaker sections’ was organized today  at Farmer’s Training Institute, Rymphum, Jowai under DST collaborating Project by Prof. H. Kayang, Principal Investigator, Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong.

The seminar was organized in collaboration with Mr. M. J. Synkon, Programmne Coordinator of  Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jaintia Hills District, Jowai. The sole objective of this training programme is  to create awareness about the latest technologies and technical knowhow on the use of Bio-pesticides, dissemination of bio-pesticides to farmers and growers and to impart training and technical knowhow among the farmers about the effective delivery systems to use bio-pesticides.

As a part of the training programme, the farmers and participants were taken for a field visit as well as practical demonstration at Farmer’s Training Institute, Rymphum, Jowai by the Project Representatives from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong.

The bio-pesticides materials were also distributed to the farmers and KVKs who come for attending the training programmne, where practical hands on demonstration on planting techniques & preparation of farm organic inputs & other cultural practices were conducted.

The participants were given also reading materials for their future reference in the field condition. Altogether more than 40 farmers and participants from different part of Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya are participating in the programme.(SP News)
