Jowai, 30th July: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prof. R.C Laloo today inaugurated the Blood Bank Jowai Civil Hospital at Panaliar in the presence of A.L Hek, Minister of Health & Family Welfare Department. The Inaugural function was also attended by the Justin Dkhar, MLA Khliehriat Constituency, Hopefull Bamon, MLA Sutnga Constituency, H.G Lyngdoh. Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills District, Doctors and Staff of Civil Hospital, Headmen’s of different localities, the members Jaintia Student Union, students of Kiang Nangbah and Thomas Jones Synod College and others.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Prof R.C Laloo lauded the initiative taken by the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, A.L Hek and Staff of the Department for organising this function and officially inaugurating the Blood Bank in the District, the long awaited need of the District.
He also appreciated the willingness of the members of JSU, students of Kiang Nangbah and Thomas Jones Synod College for coming forward to voluntarily donate Blood. He said, ‘the presence of the Blood Bank in the District will save many live, he therefore encourage the healthy persons from all sections below the age of 60 to donate blood voluntarily.
A.L Hek, Minster of Family & Health Minster Department, the Guest of Honour in his address said, the Blood Bank officially inaugurated in the District will serve the public in need of Blood especially during emergency. He said, there is a need for more voluntary Donors from all Sectors and section to come forward inorder to have sufficient stocks in the Blood Bank. He further urge the Department and the District Administration to organise Blood Donations Camp from time to time.
The function was presided over by P.S Dkhar, Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District. In his address P.S Dkhar, said that the Blood Bank will be helpful for both West and East Jaintia Hills Districts, while Dr. E.A Patwett, Medical Superintended, Jowai Civil Hospital gave the welcome address.
A Blood Bank Camp organised by Civil Hospital in collaboration with the Jaintia Student Union was also held on the occasion
