Shillong, April 07: The state of Meghalaya is going to elect its two MPs to the Lok Sabha on the 9th of this month. The state government has taken all step to see that the general election pass off with out any incident.
The Chief Secretary BPO Warjri, told media person that all step have been taken by the state government to ensure that election to the Lok Sabha pass off smoothly. All security measure has been taken at all levels.
Out of eleven districts in the state, the Chief Secretary personally visited seven district, all the five district in Garo Hills, two in Khasi Hills. From the meeting held with the District Administration and with the concern superintendent of police he is satisfies about the arrangement made.
The Director General of Police Peter James Henaman who is present at the press briefing said that, they have identified 343 polling station which hyper and 375 polling station are sensitive.
Most of the hyper sensitive polling are in thus district which is infested with militant prone areas, like South Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, East Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills District.
From the government all step have been taken to see that the election will pass out with out any incident, the police are well equipped to deal with any untoward incident that may occur. The Chief Secretary urged the people of the state to come out and exercise their franchise since it is their right.(SP News)
