Govt. constitute committee to identify entry and exit points to address the issue of influx

 

 

Shillong, July 10: Meghalaya Government constitutes a committee to identify the entry and exit points in the state. Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma told reporters after the meeting,  “This is a step putting a comprehensive mechanism to address the issue of influx and illegal immigration.”

The Chief Minister said, “This is done to identify the entry and exit point where such infrastructural requirement has to be put in place to attempt to the requirement of filtering the people entering the state,”

The committee will be headed by Director of the Directorate of Anti-Infiltration and will be assisted by officers drawn from the departments of revenue, transport, tourism and labour.

Chief minister Mukul Sangma told reporters, “We have constituted a committee, which has been assign the task of identifying ideal locations for the setting up of the entry point and exit points in the state.”

The committee while has been entrusted to look into the infrastructural requirements to be set up in these proposed entry and exit points has been directed to complete the task within two months’ time.

The statement of Chief Minister came after its meeting with the 13 ngos on April 29 on the need to have a entry permission on the spot for checking influx into the state.(SP News)
