HITO asked Meghalaya Govt to exempt pregnant women from duty amidst COVID-19 pandemic   

Shillong, May 14: The organisation Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation  (HITO) has written to the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Prestone Tynsong, asking the Meghalaya Government to exempt pregnant women from duty during the lockdown period to enable them to save their health from this deathly COVID-19 .

In the letter sent today to the Deputy Chief Minister HITO has stated that , it was noted to the noticed of the HITO that the pregnant women are compel to attend their duty amidst the COVID-19 second waves and they are at risk if continue to their duty.

HITO said that,  with a sense of responsible and concern to the pregnant the HITO urge the government to exempt them from work during these lockdown period as to enable them to save their health from the deadly COVID-19 infection with immediate effects.

The organisation in the letter sent to the Government said that if any pregnant women found to be tested positive while on duty the government shall take the responsibility and bare all the cost.

HITO pointed out that during first wave of the COVID-19 in 2020 all the pregnant women were exempted from work but during these second waves they were force to work, said Mr. Dobok Dkhar President and Mr Wanhun N Dkhar general Secretary of  organisation.
