IACR organized two days conference for promotion of Pulses and Coarse Cereals in NE

Shillong, June 16: A two days Workshop on Promotion of Pulses and Coarse Cereals for North East States was held at the Conference Hall of ICAR-NEH, Umiam. The Workshop was organized by the Directorate of Agriculture, Meghalaya in collaboration with ICAR-NEH Region under the aegis of the National Food Security Mission of Department of agriculture ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.

The Inaugural programme was attended by Shri. S. Lohiya (IAS), Joint Secretary (Crops),DAC, Government of India. Other Officials present were Shri. D. P. Malik Additional Commissioner (Crops), DAC, Government of India, Dr. C. L Gowda, DDG, ICRISAT, Dr. SV Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex, Umiam, Meghalaya, and Smt. D. Syiemiong, Director of Agriculture, Meghalaya.

Other Officials present were Co-coordinator, ICARDA, Dr. Vinay Mahajan, Principal Scientist, Directorate of Maize New Delhi, Dr. Shamsher Singh, National consultant (FM), NFSM, Dr. R J Rabindra, Dean, CPGS, CAU, Dr.

K.Manoharan, Director Jute Development, officials from Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Meghalaya, Scientists from ICAR Research Complex, Officials from Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Assam, Tripura and officials of hifferent KVKs.

The two days workshop deliberated on the technical aspects of ‘introduction of pulses and coarse cereals in North East States, which was presented by various technical experts from  Ministry of Agriculture and different ICAR agencies.(SP News)
