In compliance Central MV Act, Surprise Checking of Vehicles will carried out

Shillong, June 7: In accordance with the provisions of the Central Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and with a view to impart mass awareness on the Central Road Safety Laws, the office of the District Transport Officer of all Districts and District Transport Officer (Enforcement), Shillong shall conduct surprise checking of the following sections of the Motor Vehicle Act within the respective jurisdiction of the concerned District for all categories of vehicles i.e Government and Private.

Section 220 – for wearing of seat belt etc, Section 129 – for wearing of helmet etc, Section 177 – restriction on the use of mobile phones, no smoking etc, Section 185 – drunken driving, Section 194 – overloading of passenger and goods vehicles, Section 181- non availability of driving license, Section 192 – using vehicle without Registration, Section 192 (A) – using vehicle without Permit, Section 196 – using vehicle without Insurance and other sections relating to the documentation of vehicles etc.

Therefore all concerned Government and Private vehicle owners/drivers are requested to comply and keep all documentation etc. readily available for inspection.This was informed by the Commissioner of Transport, Meghalaya, Shillong.
